Training
ISPS Africa provides training that is recognised worldwide and on completion of training candidates receive a company accredited or an international recognized qualification, which is accredited by the South African Maritime Safety Authority (SAMSA).
Accreditation is based on the International Maritime Organization (IMO) proforma to which South Africa is a signatory.
Port Facility Security Officer
(PFSO)
Three day course that will provide the necessary knowledge and skills to persons designated as responsible for the development, implementation, revision and maintenance of the port facility security plan and for liaison with the ship security officers and company security officers.
ISPS Awareness
(ISPS Awareness)
One day course that will provide an introducton to the ISPS Code and the the necessary knowledge and skills to persons responsible for access control on manning gangways and port access control points at all three security levels.
Crowd Management and Passenger Safety (CMPS)
One day course that will provide the necessary knowledge and skills to persons in the use of life-saving appliance and control plans, in assisting passengers en route to muster and embarkation stations, and mustering procedures.
Company Security Officer
(CSO)
Three day course that will provide the necessary knowledge and skills to persons designated by the company for ensuring that a ship security assessment is carried out, that a ship security plan is developed, submitted for approval, and thereafter implemented and maintained and for liaison with port facility security officers and the ship security officer.
Crisis Management and Human Behaviour (CMHB)
One day course that will provide the necessary knowledge and skills to persons having the responsibility for the safety of passengers in emergency situations on board passenger ships in accordance with required legislation.
Ship Security Officer (SSO)
Three day course that will provide the necessary knowledge and skills to persons onboard ships, accountable to the Master, designated by the company as responsible for the security of the ship, including implementation and maintenance of the ship security plan and for liaison with the company security officer and port facility security officers.
Designated Security Duties (DSD)
Two day course that will provide the necessary knowledge and skills to seafarers to maintain compliance as set out in the ship security plan, recognise security risks and threats, undertake regular inspections, and properly use security equipment and systems.
