About ISPS Africa

ISPS Africa is a specialised training provider that develops and delivers world class International Ship and Port Security (ISPS) training to the maritime and security industries.

ISPS Africa's success is due to its commitment in delivering exceptional standards of training, flexibility in its approach, and the relationships valued with both clients and relevant government bodies.

ISPS Africa

ISPS Africa is the continuation of the International Ship Consultants (ISC) Group that was established by John Taylor in 2002.

After John's untimely passing in 2015, the business was continued with by Cobus Hanekom and Vishal Dhanesar under the name ISPS Africa. Both Cobus and Vishal served in the South African Navy for a number of years after which they respectively continued working in the private security industry and the commercial maritime fleet. Between the two of them, they have extensive experience in performing maritime security duties and providing ship and port facility security training.  Vishal Dhanesar is now the Managing Director of ISPS Africa with his wife Leverne Dhanesar as a partner and Share Holder.

With the high demand on security training by local and international shipping companies and ports, ISPS Africa has enjoyed consistent success in providing ISPS training and is well respected within the maritime and security industries.

The majority of training on offer is mandatory, emanating from the requirements of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), which is a United Nations organization that controls worldwide maritime legislation.

ISPS Africa has expanded its reach in supporting the local and international maritime and security industries, and with guidance from and partnerships with government bodies. ISPS Africa is accredited by the South African Maritime Safety Authority (SAMSA).

ISPS Africa also has a solid relationship with the UK Department for Transport and we received approved trainer status for the Company Security Officer (CSO) and Port Facility Security Officer (PFSO) courses.
